NT Police officer charged with three counts of dangerous driving

A Territory police officer was allegedly busted fanging it down the road, with a 54-year-old man set to face three counts of dangerous driving.
NT Police confirmed a 54-year-old officer had been served with a summons for three counts of dangerous driving.
It will be alleged the man drove at speed on three occasions.
It is understood the allegations claim the police officer was driving a BMW motorcycle in excess of 45km/h in Virginia, Leanyer, and Knuckey Lagoon.
It is alleged the 54-year-old reached 210km/h — more than double the 100km/h speed limit — while zipping down the Stuart Hwy at Virginia on October 27.
He allegedly clocked in at 150km/h in an 80km/h zone on Vanderlin Dr, Leanyer on November 9.
A week later the police officer allegedly drove at triple the legal speed limit in Darwin.
It was alleged the man drove at 180km/h in a 60km/h zone on McMillans Rd, Knuckey Lagoon on November 16.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption and the police watchdog the Ombudsman have both been informed of the charges.
NT Police confirmed the 54-year-old had not been stood down, but would not confirm what role he remained in.
“The Northern Territory Police Force do not provide information about individual members or on the internal operational management of the police force,” it said.
The 54-year-old will appear in the Darwin Local Court on Wednesday February 15.
