A pilot has died after crashing at a remote airstrip in the state’s far west, with authorities now probing what caused the early-morning crash.

A man has died after his light aircraft crashed at an outback airstrip in the state’s north west early this morning.
Emergency services were called to Aerodrome Rd, White Cliffs – about 260km northeast of Broken Hill – just after 7.15am on Tuesday, following reports of a plane crash.
The pilot, believed to be the sole occupant, tragically died at the scene.
His body is yet to be formally identified.
Barrier Police District officers, along with NSW Ambulance, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW State Emergency Service were deployed to the scene.
A crime scene has since been established with police and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau now investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner, while investigations and inquiries continue.
Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
