Sydney to dry out this weekend as effects of Alfred fade

Soggy Sydney will enjoy a dry, warm weekend as a heatwave is declared further south. Here’s your weekend outlook.

Analysis: Expect weekend weather to remain warm with high temperatures

A heatwave warning has been declared for Illawarra, the South Coast and the Snowy Mountains, ending on Saturday.

Sydney residents can anticipate warm and mostly sunny conditions until the end of the week with Sunday expected to reach tops of 35C.

Thursday is expected to reach a high of 29C with sunny skies in Sydney, while in the west it will get up to 32C in Penrith, Campbelltown and Richmond, and 31C for Parramatta.

The Bureau of Meteorology’s Angus Hines said rainfall was possible on Thursday across the most northern districts of NSW but would be “isolated and fairly light” as the effects of ex-Tropical Cyclone Angus abate.

Temperatures will rise to 31C on Friday and 32C on Saturday, both days keeping clear skies.

Sunday will be the warmest, with a high of 35C and mostly sunny conditions.

A severe heatwave has been predicted for parts of the South Coast.

A low intensity heatwave warning is in place for the Hunter down to Nowra and much of the southwest.
