A man and a woman accused of a violent stabbing on the Central Coast have fronted court as the alleged victim remains in an induced coma and is facing the prospect of having his arm amputated, a court has heard.

Porscha Casey, 19, and Jesse Tutauha, 24 appeared in Gosford Local Court on Wednesday morning in relation to the alleged stabbing on Tuesday.

The pair have both been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The alleged victim, a 38-year-old man, remains in an induced coma and may have to his arm amputated due to the extent of his injuries, the court was told.

Tutuaha briefly appeared in court and had his matter adjourned to July 11. He did not apply for bail.

In disturbing footage which was shown to the court, CCTV footage showed a scuffle between the alleged victim and Casey and Tutauha, which resulted in the alleged victim being stabbed.

He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

The alleged stabbing happened at 6.30am on Tuesday in the basement carpark of a housing commission unit on Gertrude St in North Gosford.

The footage shows Casey (allegedly) taking a knife from the rear of her back pocket while the victim appears to throw a mallet toward Tutauha.

The court heard Casey then allegedly stabbed the victim three times in the back.

The victim, who is currently at Royal North Shore Hospital and downgraded from a critical to a serious condition, has needed six litres of blood transfusions.

Police submitted that they had a strong prosecution case which depicted Casey allegedly stabbing the victim while he was unarmed with his back to her.

Casey’s lawyer told the court he was of the opinion that the victim had initiated the confrontation by approaching Casey’s boyfriend, but accepted that his client had taken part in the alleged stabbing.

He also told the court that the victim had thrown some material at her house earlier.

Magistrate Alan Railton said the court had to take into account the facts at their highest, and that police had an extremely strong prosecution case.

“It is clear the defendant was armed with a knife in regards to the seriousness of the injuries which have been sustained…it’s certainly a strong case for a joint criminal enterprise.

Casey will front court again on July 11.
