A man has been charged and more than 300kg of illicit drugs seized after an investigation into a large-scale drug supply across Sydney’s southwest.
Strike Force Grassy was established by officers attached to the Central Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad to target alleged known offenders involved in enhanced indoor cannabis cultivation.
About 8am on Tuesday, strike force officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Birwood Ave, Cabramatta.
During a search of the premises, police seized 311kg of cannabis with an estimated street value of $2,058,000, 419.2 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $125,700 and $2100 in cash.
Police arrested 27-year-old man, Dinh Du Phu, at the scene.
Phu was taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with three offences, supply prohibited drug – large commercial quantity, supply prohibited drug – commercial quantity, and deal with property proceeds of crime.
He was refused bail to appear in court.
On Wednesday, Phu’s matter was briefly mentioned at Fairfield Local Court for the first.
Phu’s legal representative Lyndon Nguyen, principal solicitor at Solis Lawyers, said his client would not be applying for bail and did not enter pleas on his charges.
Magistrate Rana Daher adjourned the matter back to Fairfield Local Court on June 11 for mention.
