What started out as a bag of coffee beans has grown into a realm of possibilities for Jordan and Cass Wisnewski, who in less than nine months have opened their own cafe.
In fact, their blend drew in such a large crowd that Mr Wisnewski has now taken the gig on full-time – a scary yet exciting prospect for the husband and wife team.
“We know (coffee shops are) a saturated market but there’s a McDonald’s on every corner and they still succeed,” Mr Wisnewski said.
“Melbourne has such a rich coffee culture so we really want to bring a bit of that culture here in Toowoomba and believe that will make us stand out.”
On June 2, the pair will celebrate their new shop W Coffee and Co with an official open day event with live entertainment and giveaways from 6am.
It comes after the couple completed a month-long renovation of the new site with late nights and weekends spent painting the walls, building benchtops and installing cabinetry.
Despite the hard work and long hours, the pair said they loved every second of running their own passion project and meeting people from all walks of life.
“We want our customers to come in, sit down, have a chat and get to know us – they are not just tickets to us,” Ms Wisnewski said.
“Connection through coffee is so important to us, so it’s all about the people who we make it for.”
The small family business currently employs two full-time baristas and will be serving a selection of the couple’s own house and specialty blends.
W Coffee and Co is at the Australia Arcade off Ruthven St and is open weekdays from 6am to 2pm and Saturdays from 7am to 1pm.
