Northpoint Shopping Centre had heads turning when an uninvited visitor was spotted attempting to enter the front doors.
Charlie’s Shoes and Keys owner Charlie Pantalleresco witnessed what he believes was a massive eastern brown snake lurking in the corner of the front entrance on Thursday afternoon.
“It was huge, I’m not sure if it was an eastern brown or a king brown but it would’ve been about 6ft.” he said.
“In the 25 plus years I’ve lived in Toowoomba I’ve never seen a snake like that, I’ve never seen one outside an enclosure.”
Mr Pantalleresco said a concerned passer by decided to take matters into his own hands out of fear of the safety of shoppers inside the centre and killed the snake.
“I think he was just doing what he thought was the right thing to do at the time,” he said.
“A lot of people nearby weren’t impressed by his actions, but it would’ve been worse if the snake got inside and bit someone.”
It’s understood the snake was removed from the shopping centre by a third party.
