The man at the centre of a dramatic arrest in Cullen Bay earlier this year has had his plea on several serious charges delayed.

Roy Francis Daye, 53, appeared in the Darwin Local Court facing a string of charges including unlawfully causing serious harm and drug and firearm offences.

Daye was originally down to make a plea on Tuesday, but his lawyer Jon Tippett KC requested his client’s case be adjourned until April 26.

“We had hoped to proceed today, but we are not in a position to do so,” Mr Tippett told judge John Neill.

Crown prosecutor Marty Aust agreed to the adjournment of the case.

Daye was dramatically arrested in mid-January when Drug and Organised Crime detectives alongside Territory Response members swarmed a home in Cullen Bay.

It is understood he was known to police prior to the alleged incident, which led to his arrest at the home where he was believed to be temporarily staying.

There are no allegations of wrongdoing on the part of the homeowners.

The alleged offender also faces charges of breach of bail, recklessly endangering causing serious harm and unauthorised possession of a schedule 4 substance.

Daye has been remanded in custody and will appear before the Darwin Local Court on April 26 for a plea or mention.
