St Mary’s continued their recovery from a brutal start to the season with a 40-point demolition of Southern Districts in a one-sided NTFL Women’a Premier League match.
Saints, who lost to the top sides in their first two games, have now reeled off five consecutive wins after their 8.7 (55) to 2.3 (15) victory.
Young gun Shakaila Gardiner-Dunn landed two majors and continues to emerge as one of the best goalkickers in the competition.
But it was their all-field defence that was perhaps more impressive with Saints denying Southern Districts a single scoring shot throughout the opening half.
Districts did eventually goal in the second half with Kaitlyn O’Keefe and Nayely Borg both getting something to celebrate.
However, the work rate of the likes of Billie Byers and Ciaralii Parnell kept Saints plugging away, while Nadia von Bertouch was again named among the best in her second NTFL outing.

St Mary’s have a chance to extend their winning streak to five and put further pressure on the top two when they take on Southern Districts.

Saints, last year’s grand finalists, have picked up a head of steam in recent rounds, beating Waratah, Wanderers, Tiwi Bombers and Palmerston.
They have had plenty of strong performances with the likes of Paula Pavic and Shakalia Gardiner-Dunn frequently among their best.
A win here will put them in a strong position not just for a finals berth, but for a top three double chance position.
Southern Districts, meanwhile, are sure to come out of the bye eager to prove they can get back to winning ways. They have not tasted success since the second round.
They have played well in recent weeks, with close defeats to Tiwi and Buffaloes, but they know they need to convert those performances into wins to compete for finals.
Emma Forsyth, Megan Craufurd and Maddi Shaw have been among their more consistent performers.
