Waratah’s midfield were consistent winners in the contest to see off a valiant PINT side and send themselves into the Christmas break with winning momentum.
The Greenants were eager to grab a win on their home deck for the first time of the season, but an early injury to Riley Mayne left them staring at an uphill battle.
Then the work rate of Waratah’s midfield took hold with their consistency and pressure in and around the contest to see off PINT 12.11 (83) to 7.4 (46).
The game started as even as possible befitting recent matches at DXC Arena, but PINT had an early casualty when Mayne came off with concussion in an incident of friendly fire.
In his place usual back man Brad Ryan stepped up into the forward line and made a good showing of himself with three goals for the first half.
However, the Tahs were always in the contest with Riley Irvin doing well in the ruck battle and his work complimented the efforts of ground ball winner Tanner Lovell.
Those two paired well with the rest of the Waratah midfield, particularly vice-captain Scott Carlin who was again his consistent self, winning the ball and ensuring it was cleared forward.
PINT’s own midfield had their moments with Cameron Wilson and Thomas Schott continuing their recent strong form getting the ball.
They had the run in the third quarter, but were unable to take full advantage with an inability to kick goal in that period.
Instead, Waratah snapped the run when Clay Shadforth nailed a goal in the final seconds of the quarter, the only major of the period, and sending his side into the final 20 points ahead.
Waratah built on that advantage through the final quarter dominating the scoring then as Sam Bates scored the only points of the term for PINT.

PREVIEW
All PINT wants for Christmas is a win at home.
Despite three incredibly tight games at DXC Arena the Greenants have yet to win at home this season, and that’s a stat they will want to put to rest against Waratah.
The NT News and KommunityTV will stream every moment of the Round 11 clash from 8pm on Friday.
Traditionally, PINT has built DXC Arena as a personal fortress in the NTFL Premier League, but the cracks in the walls have definitely shown this season.
The Greenants will be dertmined to restore some credibility to their home record, both as a confidence booster going into the mid-season break and to ensure they claw back some ground on the competition’s top five.
The Greenants were dominant against the Magpies last round, though difficulties in front of goal meant the scoreboard didn’t reflect that as much as it should.
Cameron Wilson was a standout alongside Thomas Schott in the midfield, while Christopher Nield did some damage in front of the posts outside of a strange goalless second quarter.
Waratah are not an easy prospect, fresh off a bye and going into the break they will have plenty of energy coming into the contest.
The Tahs have their own ambitions of climbing up the competition table, with a top three spot an important milestone on the eve of the mid-season break.
Scott Carlin has been their player of the season, popping up wherever needed, while the likes of Ricky Monti, Bailey Scott and Tanner Lovell were impressive in their narrow defeat of Wanderers.
