Serious crime squads have arrested two men in a dramatic undercover armed arrest in a Hungry Jack’s drive-through.
NT Police have confirmed a major undercover operation led to the arrest of two men at Coolalinga at 6pm, Thursday.
Witnesses filmed the dramatic drive-through arrest, just off the Stuart Highway outside Darwin.
Footage of the alleged incident appeared to show officers swarming around a blue ute clouded in smoke.
Five men, understood to be undercover cops, pointing shotguns, handguns and tasers at the occupants of a ute waiting in the fast food drive-through lane.
Footage allegedly shows one of the men inside the ute waving the broken off window screen to bat away officers as they pointed weapons at him.
The dog squads were also present at the arrest.
The officers involved in the arrest were from the Dog Operations Unit, the Territory Response Group and general duties, as well as the Serious Crime Squad.
“Both men had warrants for their arrests and charges are expected to be laid later today,” NT Police said on Friday.
“There were no serious injuries to the offenders, officers involved or the general public.
“A member of the public’s vehicle was damaged as the offenders attempted to evade police.”
Investigations are ongoing.
