Marika Carlton, Danika McDonald and Tatyana Perry selected for AFL National Academy showcase
A trio of talented Territory footballers have been given the opportunity to display their skills against some of the country’s best rising stars in the AFL National Academy showcase.

Palmerston Magpies stars Tatyana Perry and Marika Carlton and Pioneer Eagle Danika McDonald will get their chance to show off their skills against some of the country’s best young talent.
The trio have named to feature in this weekend’s clash between the Marsh AFL National Academy Girls and the national All-Stars side in Melbourne.
The match at RSEA Park will put a spotlight on the country’s most promising young footballers born in 2006 and 2007 on Sunday.
Perry is one of the NT’s most decorated players and will become a two-time All-Star as she makes back-to-back selections.
She won the 2022-23 NTFL Rising Star medal and has been a constant source of influence as one of Palmerston’s young up and comers.
Carlton won the Rising Star accolade the year after and continues to impress in the NTFL helping propel the Magpies to a finals return this season.
She recently represented the NTFL against McDonald’s CAFL side in the representative match, with the latter having wrapped up a Rising Star win in the Alice Springs competition.
A second fixture between the two sides is scheduled for the King’s Birthday weekend in June.
Players will arrive in Melbourne on Thursday to begin a high-performance camp, which includes education, wellbeing, and team-building sessions in preparation for Sunday’s game.
Marsh AFL National Academy Manager Tarkyn Lockyer said it was an exciting moment for all the players to wear the Australian jumper for the first time.
“It is a well-deserved honour for everyone selected and we look forward to watching our Academy members wearing the jumper with distinction.
“Sunday’s game also provides a great opportunity for players selected for the All Stars to showcase their talent on the big stage.”
