The Victorian outfits played the important Indigenous round match for the first time in the Top End last year and once again it will come to TIO Stadium from 6.45pm on August 29.
The Round 3 encounter is a feature match of the 2025 AFLW season as the opener for the Indigenous round and will be broadcast live and free on the Seven Network.
And in coming to the Top End, it will continue to grow in significance as a showcase of cultural celebration and sporting excellence in the Northern Territory.
Head of AFLNT Sam Gibson said the return of the fixture reflected the Territory’s deep connection to the game and the strength of community support for AFLW.
“To have AFLW Dreamtime back in Darwin is a huge win for our community, and the fact it’s secured a Friday night primetime slot on free-to-air TV makes it even more special,” he said.
“This match is more than just four quarters of football, it’s a celebration of culture, identity and connection.
“We’re incredibly proud to again share that with the rest of Australia from here in the Top End.”
The fixture will be the fourth top flight footy match for the NT in 2025 with two Gold Coast Suns games in Darwin and a Melbourne versus St Kilda game in Alice Springs.
It also helps represent the growing participation of women in the sport with 40 per cent of registered players in the Territory identifying as female.
The match also shines a spotlight on local talent and the role the NT plays in leading the way in women’s football.
Further details, including ticketing, and surrounding events will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
