Darwin Triple Crown dates confirmed for 2024

The fan-favourite Darwin Supercars will return in 2024, with the dates locked in for what promises to be another bumper year. Find out when it’s happening.

The fan-favourite Darwin Supercars has announced its dates for the 2024 season, following another bumper year for the event.

The ever-popular event proved itself a must-see destination once more in 2023 attracting more than 42,000 attendances across the weekend.

And the event will return for its 26th year at the Hidden Valley Raceway in 2024 from June 14-16, doubling as the official Supercars Indigenous Round.

As always the Darwin Triple Crown is a big driver for tourism with almost 50 per cent of attendees coming from interstate, with 73,393 visitor nights across the NT.

The 2023 event generated a total expenditure stimulus in the NT of $27.6m, with $21.7m being new money to the Territory.

And in a further positive 83 per cent of Territorians agreed the event made them proud to be Territorian, while 80 per cent agreed the experience enhanced their perception of Darwin.

Chief Minister Natasha Fyles said the event was hugely popular event in the Top End, which brought in racing fans across the country.

“The Darwin Triple Crown Supercars Indigenous Round is a huge event that attracts thousands of people to the Territory every year,” the new Major Events Minister said.

“They enjoy not only all the action on the track, but everything else the Territory has to offer, from our unique tourism experiences and incredible sunsets to our rich and ancient Aboriginal culture.

“The research from the 2023 Darwin Triple Crown shows the value in investing in this event, which, like the Territory’s other major events, delivers significant benefits to the economy.”

Supercars chief executive Shane Howard said the round was a beloved part of the annual championship.

“Darwin’s famous June weather is the perfect winter getaway for fans and teams alike,” he said.

“The Indigenous Round element offers us the fantastic opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the rich Indigenous culture present both in the Northern Territory and across Australia.

“In 2023 we were treated to a fantastic weekend of racing and enjoyed the sight of the entire Supercars field donning special Indigenous liveries for the event.

“We look forward to adding to the legacy of the Supercars Indigenous Round when we return to the Northern Territory in June 2024 for this truly unique event.”
