Family and friends have taken to social media to share their heartache at the loss of a Darwin teen in an alleged hit and run.

UPDATE: The teenager who tragically passed away in an ­alleged hit and run has been described as a “beautiful boy” by family and friends.

Keen sportsman Jack Parker, 15, passed away while trying to ride his scooter across Matthews Road, Wulagi.

A 32-year-old man is alleged to have left the scene of the crash before turning himself into the Casuarina Police Station.

Judy Carne took to Facebook to share her condolences with the boy’s heartbroken family. “Today has been sad day, watching one of my closet and dearest friend(s) holding in her pain, when I can see it in her eyes and feel it,” Ms Carne said.

“It was hard being by her side at the accident site, knowing that I couldn’t take any of her pain away.

“Although it doesn’t seem real, we know it can’t be undone. You are one of the strongest women I know, and I am here for you always. xo

“RIP beautiful boy.”

UPDATE: THE teenager killed in an ­alleged hit and run by a driver allegedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs had a pulse when neighbours ran to his aid and tried to save his life.

Witnesses ran to the boy after hearing the impact and attempted CPR in an ­effort to save him, but he died at the scene on Matthews Rd, ­Wulagi, about 7pm on Saturday.

Police say the teenager was hit near the Union Tce intersection by a driver who was allegedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Shanaaz Shabir was one of the residents who ran out after hearing the crash and attempted to help the teenager.

“We knew it was something bad that had happened so went out, had a look and there was a lady crying on the road,” Mr Shabir said.

“She must have seen it. We ran up there and the neighbours were already there.”

He said he called St John Ambulance and helped as his neighbours, one of whom was a nurse, began CPR.

“He was on the road and in pretty bad shape,” he said.

“He had a pulse but it was really light and faint, and he was breathing softly.

“We started CPR and waited for the ambulance to come.”

Through tears, another resident who was too upset to talk said she heard a loud bang and screaming and ran outside to see the tragic scene out the front of her home.

On Sunday morning, markings left by police investigators could be seen from the pedestrian crossing to about 20m down Matthews Rd.

A 32-year-old man who was driving a silver Isuzu MU-X is alleged to have left the scene of the crash before turning himself into the Casuarina Police Station.

He was charged by NT police on Sunday with hit and run, drive medium range, driving with a prohibited drug in blood and not stopping after a crash.

He has been bailed to appear at Darwin Local Court on Wednesday, September 8.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information in relation to the crash is urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

EARLIER: THE 32-year-old man who allegedly drove away from the scene of a fatal car crash has been charged.

The man has been charged with hit and run, drive medium range, drive with a prohibited drug in blood and not stop after a crash.

He has been bailed to appear at Darwin Local Court on Wednesday September 8.

EARLIER: A teenage boy has died overnight in an alleged hit and run while trying to ride his scooter across Matthews Road, Wulagi.

CPR was conducted on the 15-year-old but he died at the scene.

The tragic crash occurred at 7pm near the Matthews Road and Union Terrace intersection.

The 32-year-old man behind the wheel of the car allegedly left the scene of the crash however turned himself in sometime after the fatal hit.

NT Police Acting Senior Sergeant Wayne O’Neill said the man turned himself into the Casuarina Police Station after making contact.

“He’s in custody now and is assisting with our inquiries, major crash attended the scene of the collision,” he said.

He said the road which, was closed for most of the evening, had now been reopened to the public.
