‘Terrifying’: Carl Williams’ ex-wife speaks after Zivan Radmanovic shot dead in Bali

The ex-wife of Melbourne underworld figure Carl Williams has spoken following an ambush hit on two Aussies in Bali, as police have provided an update about the gunmen involved.

Bali Police have identified one of the gunmen involved in the hit on two Australians, but have clarified that they are yet to make an arrest over the ambush hit.

Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Ariasandy stated this morning that a suspect was under arrest and being questioned over the murder of Zivan Radmanovic and shooting of Sanar Ghanim at the Badung Regency in Bali.

But he said there had been a miscommunication.

“I need to clarify my statement,” Commissioner Ariasandy said.

“After further communication with the Badung Police Chief, there is yet to (to be) any arrest.

“The team are now still chasing the alleged perpetrator to (an) area outside Bali, but still in Indonesia.

“We have identified the alleged perpetrator. We hope he can be arrested as soon as possible.”

A second gunman remains on the run over the ambush shooting of Radmanovic, 32, and the non-fatal shooting of Ghanim, 34.

Two gunmen stormed the villa early on Saturday, shooting Radmanovic in the bathroom as his wife, Jazmyn Gourdeas hid under covers in a bedroom.

Ghanim, who has a child with Roberta Williams’ daughter, Danielle Stephens, has been released from hospital with his injured legs in bandages.

Ghanim has connections in Middle Eastern Organised Crime and it is believed the hit may have links to underworld tensions in Melbourne.

Both Radmanovic and Ghanim are from Melbourne.

Ghanim has been in Bali for several months while Radmanovic travelled to Bali at some point after mid-April.

‘TERRIFYING’: CARL WILLIAMS’ EX-WIFE ON BALI SHOOTING

Roberta Williams said the news of the Bali shooting near Kuta had come as a complete shock to the family.

And she said hearing of the deadly ambush had taken her back to the slaying of her ex-husband, Carl Williams, who was murdered inside Barwon prison in 2010.

“I’m devastated. I love him (Sanar) to pieces and he’s a beautiful dad,” Roberta said.

“It’s terrifying.

“This has all taken me back to when Carl was killed.

“I’m reliving Carl’s murder.

“I think Sanar went over there to get a bit of peace and quiet.

“I just thank god that he is alive.”

‘MY ONLY SON’: GRIEVING FATHER

A distraught Brian Radmanovic said he was lost for words over the death of his son.

“I’ve lost my son, I’ve lost my only son,” Mr Radmanovic said at his Melbourne home on Sunday.

Mr Radmanovic was blasted to death in a bathroom of the Badung villa he was sharing with his wife, Jazmyn Gourdeas, who hid under the covers as he died.

Mr Ghanim, the former partner of Roberta Williams’ daughter, was found with severe injuries.

Bali police spokesperson Senior Commander Ariasandy said airport and regional police who oversee entry and exit points in Bali, had been provided with descriptions of the suspect.

He said they were “paying close attention to ensure the suspect doesn’t escape the island”.

Witnesses reported the two attackers had Australian accents. One of them was heard shouting “I can’t start my bike” as he attempted to flee the scene on a scooter.

KILL ORDER CAME FROM AUSTRALIA

One veteran Asian detective said he believed the violence would have been ordered from Australia or generated by a dispute back here.

He said it could be some time before any motivation becomes clear but this did not look like the result of local friction.

“There’s no way it’s a local dispute. It looks like a hit from Australia. They don’t go and kill foreigners over a local dispute,” the investigator said.

“If they want to f--- you up in Indonesia, they plant a pound of grass on you and get the locals (police) to sort it out.”

It is unclear who the intended target was in the dead-of-night gun attack.

Bali police chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya said on Sunday that his officers were working with the Australian Federal Police on the investigation.

However, an AFP spokesperson said “the AFP has not received a formal request for assistance in this matter”.

Senior Commander Ariasandy said the crime scene was still being examined.

“As of now, our crime scene investigation team, along with forensic experts from Bali Regional Police and a joint team from the regional and local police departments, are still processing the scene, collecting evidence found there, and conducting examinations, including forensic and autopsy results,” he said. “This is still in progress.”

VICTIM SUFFERED SLASH AND GUNSHOT WOUNDS

He revealed Mr Radmanovic had sustained multiple wounds, including “slash wounds, blunt force injuries and what appear to be gunshot wounds”.

“Similarly, the surviving victim also has several injuries on his body, including a suspected gunshot wound on the hand and other injuries,” said Senior Commander Ariasandy.

He said among the evidence recovered at the scene were bullets and “17 spent shell casings, as well as bullet fragments”.

“These have all been collected and are now in the hands of the forensic investigation team,” he said.

Statements have also been taken from seven witnesses, he added, and CCTV footage from around the scene was being examined.

“As for the perpetrator, we are still searching,” said Senior Commander Ariasandy.

“There are suspicions that the crime was committed by two men. Where they are from, we still do not know. However, based on CCTV footage, there were voices heard, one of which appeared to be speaking in English.

“According to one witness, it sounded like an Australian accent. Still, we as investigators must rely on the results of scientific investigation.”

Ms Gourdeas told police she was sleeping in bed and heard her husband screaming at about 12.15am.

She said she closed her eyes and hid under a blanket, before peeking out and seeing a man shoot her husband in the toilet.

Mr Ghanim is a kickboxer who has done significant prison time in Victoria for firearms offending and is regarded as a player in Melbourne’s volatile Middle Eastern organised crime scene.

He has a child with Williams’ daughter Danielle Stephens and is believed to have headed to Indonesia some months ago.

Mr Radmanovic and Ms Gourdeas would have arrived mid-April when the passports they were carrying were issued.
