WORLD Refugee Week is an important time to hear the inspirational stories that are contained within our diverse community.

It's brilliant to hear of people like school teacher Sita Nabizada (page 6) moving to Australia with dreams of one day entering the classroom again in the country she now calls home.

Their stories show how welcoming Toowoomba is as a community, which soon the whole of Australia will be able to see.

The South Sudanese community will be in the national spotlight when the final episode of SBS documentary Where Are You Really From? airs this coming Friday night.

Comedian Michael Hing told me earlier this month about the compelling and fascinating stories he heard when he visited our region for the three-part series.

He also spoke of how he was heartened by the community, and how the people contained within had been embraced by Toowoomba.

Tomorrow is a time to listen to the stories from our community, and show we stand with the people that have been forced to flee their country due to violence.
