A man has been allegedly mowed down by a car and rushed to hospital with serious injuries after trying to thwart an alleged break-in.

A man has been allegedly mowed down by a car and rushed to hospital with serious injuries after trying to thwart an alleged break-in.

Shortly before 2am on Sunday, paramedics, including the High Acuity Response Unit, rushed to Dawn Pde and Craft Crt at Miami after a man in his 20s was struck by a vehicle.

He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition with a broken leg.

Police have launched an investigation to track down the alleged offender and driver of the vehicle.

Friends of the victim have since taken to social media, saying the victim was trying to stop someone from breaking into his house.

“My friend has been hit by a car on the corner of Dawn Parade and Craft Court in Miami last night between 1am and 2am,” the post read.

“He is in hospital with a broken leg. My friend followed a man his 40s/50s after (he tried) to break into their house, the man jumped into a car and drove straight into my friend and fled the scene.

“Trying to gather information on car or number plates. Any info would be much appreciated.”
