A MAN has been charged with multiple offences following traffic chaos on a Toowoomba road yesterday.

The 28-year-old Woodridge man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving a motor vehicle without a licence and drug driving.

The vehicle police will allege the man was driving rear-ended one vehicle and side-swiped another before it was involved in a three-vehicle crash near the corner of Tourist Rd about 4.35pm.

Five people were taken to hospital, including one man who had to be cut free from his vehicle.

The man will appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on May 26.
