A 25-year-old man has been charged with drink driving after crashing into a home at Ashmore in the early hours of Friday.

Emergency services were called to the Corunna Crescent property just before 2am.

The lounge area was damaged after the blue Toyota Yaris ploughed through the front of the house, a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.

She said the residents were home at the time of the crash, but were not injured.

A 25-year-old Southport man was the only person in the car and was later charged with driving under the influence of liquor.

The QPS spokeswoman said though police were waiting for further testing to give an exact reading, it was a high range drink driving offence.

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on March 21.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said damage to the house was minor and the scene was left in the hands of QPS by 2.40am.

Paramedics did not attend, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.
