A feud between Gold Coast townhouse complex neighbours has landed a man in court on two charges - despite the accused calling police himself.
Luke Cullen, a townhouse complex resident of 15 years, appeared in the Southport Magistrates Court via videolink on Friday, December 20, Mr applying for bail on two charges he was facing.
They were one count of committing public nuisance, and one count of dangerous conduct with a weapon.
Prosecutor Rodney Keyte told the court police allege an ongoing feud between Mr Cullen and a neighbour came to a head on Thursday night, December 19, when Mr Cullen allegedly pulled a gel blaster on his neighbour, who the court heard had armed himself first.
Mr Cullen’s representative, Terry Gray, told the court Mr Cullen and the alleged victim had had multiple interactions in the three months the alleged victim had been living at the complex.
“Tensions previously reached a high point”,” Mr Gray said.
The court heard Mr Cullen called police to the scene himself.
The court heard after Mr Cullen showed his gel blaster, the alleged victim came back outside and shouted: “I have a gun too.”
Mr Gray said Mr Cullen is a single father, and his teenage son was left alone overnight while Mr Cullen was in custody.
Mr Cullen did not enter a plea to either of the charges, and Magistrate Jane Bentley granted the man bail on the condition he was not to come within 50 metres of the victim.
