With her latest project being her biggest so far, a 16 metre long by 7 metre high mural done in 11 days, mural artist Katie Richardson is happy she decided on a career change.
Her latest mural adorns the large interior wall of Health Collective Group’s centre in Garbutt.
She has painted murals for spaces such as Cubby Care Mount Louisa, Magnetic Island Rural Fire Service and houses and backyards across Townsville.
Halfway through her nursing degree Ms Richardson said she wanted a change and jumped ‘straight into the deep end’ on her dream of painting murals full-time.
Another of her murals has been done for new business The Bloom Room, which is opening soon on Ingham Road, West End.
“I’ve already done a few businesses around town and I’ve got six more murals booked in to the start of November,” she said.
“There’s lot of businesses around that have a big wall and aren’t sure what to put on it.”
“A lot of people really want a mural that tells the story of what they do and they want to have a meaning behind it which is great.”
