Lovers of Italian food will experience an array of cuisine as the Darwin Italian Festival returns on May 10, with free entry for all.
The festival, taking place at the Darwin Waterfront, will feature more than 20 food vendors, including The Taste of Italy, Luigi’s Pizzeria and Alfonsino’s, and a variety of acts, including music and stand-up comedians from across Australia.
Italian Festival Association Chair Chris Depasquale said he was thrilled to see the community come back together and celebrate Italian culture after the festival took a year off in 2024.
“Darwin has embraced the Italian Festival and we’re thrilled to bring back an even more authentic and enjoyable experience in 2025,” Mr Depasquale said.
“The extra food stalls mean more delicious options of festival favourites like pizza, sausages, pasta and desserts.”
For the first time, the festival will feature an Italian street inspired Mercato featuring an array of products including homewares, specialty foods, and ceramics, allowing visitors to “shop like a local Italian”.
“Italian cuisine is the heart of our event, but at its centre is the imitation of Italian lifestyle- effortlessly invigorating, soulful, and bright,” Mr Depasquale said.
Alongside the food and shopping will be an extensive line-up of entertainment.
Among the performers are festival MC and leading comedian James Liotta, celebrated Italian tenor Lorenzo Iannotti, and Joe Dolce, singer of the hit song “Shaddap You Face”.
The Darwin Italian Festival runs from 10am until late on May 10.
