NT Police Strike Force Trident has charged a male youth with multiple offences after allegedly indecently assaulting six women in Darwin’s northern suburbs.

The boy who is under the age of 15, was arrested by police on April 30, in relation to two separate incidents in a hospital carpark in Tiwi.

Police will allege the boy indecently touched two women and was subsequently charged with two counts of indecent touching or act and was remanded to appear in court on May 7.

After he was arrested, police connected the youth to four separate alleged assaults on women who had been walking along the Nightcliff Foreshore.

About 6:30am on April 17, police received reports of a male allegedly indecently assaulting a woman walking along the Foreshore, with the boy fleeing before police arrival.

On April 22 about 11am, police received reports of an indecent assault on a woman running at the Foreshore, who was able to flee to safety following the assault.

The next day about 6pm, there were reports of a male grappling with a woman after allegedly assaulting her.

The victim screamed for help and a person in a passing vehicle stopped to assist the woman, while the alleged offender fled the scene.

On April 29 about 7:20pm, police received another report that a woman had allegedly grappled with the youth after he appeared from behind.

The woman broke free and saw the alleged offender was naked.

The woman screamed for help and fled.

Evidence seized from the victims by police returned a positive DNA match for the already arrested youth.

Strike Force Trident detectives further charged the male youth with four counts of indecent touching or act without consent and attempt sexual intercourse without consent.

The youth is remanded to appear in court on May 20.

Detective Senior Sergeant Burns said Strike Force Trident will continue to pursue those who pose a risk to public safety.

“Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Strike Force Trident detectives, the youth was swiftly identified and taken into custody before he could harm anyone else,” he said.

“The bravery of the victims to assist police is commendable and I encourage anyone affected by similar incidents to report them to police immediately.”

Anyone with information in relation to these incidents or have further information that could assist police in their investigation is urged to contact police on 131 444. Anonymous reports can be made via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
