Toowoomba and the Darling Downs will soon welcome an event back to the region that aims to showcase the services available, support and empower women to best manage their health.

Delivered by QENDO – the peak body for people affected by endometriosis and other pelvic health related conditions – it’s the third time the organisation has delivered the Darling Downs Women’s Health Expo (WHE).

WHE Darling Downs co-ordinator Ash Webb said this year’s event will coincide with National Women’s Health Week.

“The WHE is the Darling Down’s flagship event for women’s health,” Ms Webb said.

“It provides the chance for businesses to demonstrate to the community the support and wide range of services available for women’s health across the Darling Downs and to empower women around building a toolkit to manage their health.”

Many local businesses will be holding a stall at the event from obstetricians, gynaecologists, physios, nutritionists and community services.

And with less access to health specialists and alternative therapies for women living in regional and rural areas, the event showcases the wide range of options available.

“This event connects parts of the community which is often fragmented, can increase social (inclusion) and empowers women to choose what’s right for them,” Ms Webb said.

“By bringing the community together we can help to reduce social isolation and start the conversation on much needed and relevant topics to rural and regional women.

“This will further the conversation around women’s health and highlight the impacts on and for rural and regional women and their families.”
