Competitive sport has been a part of Emily Glennie‘s life for many years, and she has been an active member of the Crossfit community too.

But it was after she attended her first pilates class that she discovered a new appreciation for wellness.

“I found myself in a bit of a fitness rut and just needed a bit of a change,” Ms Glennie said.

“Now I can see the real benefit of combining something like pilates with strength training, and it’s become my real passion.”

The fitness guru became a qualified pilates instructor and is now offering classes through her new business Glow Pilates Co.

With a vision to provide class options for residents living in areas like Gowrie Junction, Kingsthorpe, Meringandan and Highfields, the driven 25-year-old voiced her own frustrations over the commute into town to attend a class.

“I moved out to Gowrie Junction 12 months ago and would drive 20 minutes to make the class in town,” Ms Glennie said.

“After the class I would often drive back home to get ready for work and then drive back into town because there just wasn’t anything closer on offer.”

Ms Glennie said her classes focused on strengthening the core, glute, leg and pelvic floor muscles, were suited to everyone and were great for preventing injuries.

Currently hosting her classes at the Gowrie Junction Progress Hall, the business owner is in the process of building a home-based studio.
