THE hot weather that has led to air conditioners being turned back on is set to continue over the next couple of days.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Rick Threlfall said the hot weather was being caused by a warm air mass over the top of southeast Queensland.

"The humidity too makes it feel fair bit warmer than it is," he said.

"It's a static weather pattern, where the air sits in same spot for a few days.

"The air has come from the east, so has picked up a bit of moisture off the Coral Sea as well."

Mr Threlfall said this would remain for the next few days.

"There is quite a lot of fine weather around, especially for the next few days," he said.

He said there would be some relief from the heat towards the end of the week.

"On Thursday and Friday the temperatures will be knocked down and there will be a bit more cloud around as well," he said.

"The winds will be picking up as well in Toowoomba, maybe getting up to 40 or 50 kilometres an hour at times."

Despite the change of conditions, he said there would be little chance of rain all week.
