THE first plane has landed at Wellcamp Airport, piloted by one of the people building Australia’s first privately-owned public airport, John Wagner.

THE first plane has landed at Wellcamp Airport, piloted by one of the people building Australia's first privately-owned public airport, John Wagner.

On board were Henry and Mary Wagner, Mayor Paul Antonio and Member for Toowoomba South John McVeigh.

The flight came ahead of the Wellcamp Airport Open Day on Sunday, which is expected to attract more than 10,000 people.

There will also be autograph signings by Laura Geitz and an Aerotech war bird display.
