The close friend of a 23-year-old motorcyclist involved in a horrific crash west of Brisbane has described the heartbreaking moment his life support machine was turned off in hospital today.

The close friend of a 23-year-old motorcyclist involved in a horrific crash west of Brisbane has described the heartbreaking moment his life support machine was turned off in hospital today.

Toowoomba man Trent David Iacono, 23, was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in critical condition after a serious single-vehicle crash involving a motorbike at Riverview on Sunday. He passed away today as a result of his injuries.

Police said preliminary information suggested the motorcycle was travelling down the Warrego Hwy off-ramp onto the Ipswich Mwy towards Brisbane when it struck a guardrail before crashing about 7.35am.

Close friend Jake Child said a few of their mates were in hospital on Monday when the “heartbreaking” decision was made to turn off his life support.

“He would do anything for anyone,” he said.

“Trent would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.”

“He’s a great guy to everyone. Always smiling, always happy.

“Trent could make friends with anyone. He had some trouble with the law before, but he tried to get on the right path and started working on the rigs.”

Mr Child said Trent had always been passionate about motorcycles.

“He loved riding,” he said. “If he could just ride bikes for the rest of his life, he probably would.”

The Forensic Crash unit is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have dashcam vision of the motorbike, a maroon/red Suzuki GSX750 Queensland registration 767LV, and a gold Mazda 3 travelling with the bike prior to the incident, to come forward.
