A Gold Coast mum busted behind the wheel of her luxury electric vehicle at almost four times the alcohol limit decided to drive again only hours later.
Tina Kristine Regecova’s Tesla was first pulled over at Mount Nathan on April 12, where police noticed the smell of alcohol on her breath.
Southport Magistrates Court was told Regecova recorded a whopping blood alcohol concentration of 0.199 after being taken to a police station.
The 50-year-old was given a notice that her licence was suspended before being released.
The court was told that only hours after her first run-in with police, Regecova was nabbed a second time by the same officer, saying she knew she had been granted bail but did not realise she was not allowed to drive.
The Tamborine Mountain woman recorded a BAC of 0.183 a short while later.
The court was told Regecova was struggling with insomnia and other health concerns at the time after returning from overseas, and had been fasting when she decided to knock back several drinks on top of prescribed melatonin to help her sleep.
Regecova did not feel “impaired” the next morning and was driving to pick up her son when she was first pulled over, it was heard.
She was told during her sentencing that it was “serious misconduct”, though it was accepted that it was out of character and she had since completed several programs.
Regecova pleaded guilty to two counts of driving under the influence of liquor and one of driving while suspended.
She was fined $750 and disqualified from driving for at least two years.
No conviction was recorded.
