A colourful former reality television contestant has been sentenced after admitting to possessing meth – but her business with the courts is not finished yet.

Suzi Taylor, 54, who is also known as Suellen Jan Underwood or her legal name Suellen Jan Taylor, pleaded guilty to a string of drug and bail related charges when she appeared via videolink from custody in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.

The court heard that police executed a search warrant at a Broadbeach dwelling and found Taylor inside on May 3, despite her bail conditions listing her dwelling as a different address.

Police conducted a search of Taylor’s bedroom and located a clipped sealed bag containing a quantity of crystals.

Officers also found a glass pipe with burn residue, a yellow straw and four diazepam tablets which Taylor told police all belonged to her.

The court heard Taylor said the crystals were methylamphetamine and the pipe and straw had been used to take meth.

She also failed to report as part of her bail conditions 12 times between February 27 and April 1, and once on February 5.

Taylor’s defence lawyer Michael Gatenby submitted to the court documents he said demonstrated that his client had suffered from a mental health condition over an extended period of time, including during some of the periods of offending.

He told the court that Taylor had been prescribed diazepam while in custody and said she is clearly a person in need of that medication based on the medical material he submitted to the court.

Mr Gatenby said he accepted Taylor’s previous reporting conditions were not unduly harsh but were problematic.

Magistrate Joan White said that the offences before the court were much less serious than the charges Taylor had been granted bail for initially.

She said she accepted the references and reports submitted to court were most likely correct and Taylor did have some mental health issues.

Taylor, who had been in custody since Saturday May 3, is still facing drug-trafficking charges.

Ms White said Taylor’s time in custody was a sufficient penalty.

Taylor was convicted not further punished.

Her bail was enlarged with her reporting conditions remaining.

Taylor’s other court matter is expected to appear for a committal mention at Southport Magistrates Court on June 3.
