A fire has caused significant damage to a longstanding milk factory on the Gold Coast.
Emergency services were called to the Norco Foods Milk factory on Brisbane Rd in Coombabah at around 2am on Friday.
A Queensland Fire Department (QFD) spokeswoman said seven crews rushed to the scene and found the factory engulfed in flames.
It was understood a semi-trailer, which was parked in the loading dock, had caught on fire before the blaze spread to the rest of the factory.
The QFD spokeswoman said crews were able to get the fire under control at around 4am but the inferno had caused significant damage.
At around 6am, six crews remained on scene, waiting for an earth moving excavator to be able to access inside of the factory.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said they had crews on standby.
The Norco Foods Milk factory opened in 1981, making it a proud and longstanding establishment on the Gold Coast.
