‘Everything went white’ for a Southeast Queensland teen when lightning struck her roof and the electrical current shocked her through a phone, during last night’s rain bomb across the region.

Emergency services were called to two homes within two hours in Burpengary and Yandina last night, after reports of a lightning strike to both properties.

A woman was taken to Nambour Hospital with neck pain in a stable condition after the lightning strike to the home on Yandina Bli Bli Road at 12.43am.

Another woman was taken to Caboolture Hospital in a stable condition with minor burns after the lightning strike on Coutts Drive, Burpengary at 2.54am.

17-year-old Bloom Kermode was one of those patients, who was scrolling on TikTok when the lightning bolt struck her roof.

“It entered through my phone into my arm and it exited out my leg,” Kermode told 10 News.

“I’m going to go get a lotto ticket and see what happens,” she joked.

She said she was laying in her room and about to go to bed when it happened.

“There was this big bang and everything went white and my whole body started shaking - everything was exploding,” she said.

“Because I had my phone in my hands, the electric current went into me and my whole arm went numb and it felt almost like I was having a seizure.

“Everything was on fire, so I was like ‘I need to get out of here’ and so I grabbed my dog and I was out, and I left.”

“The roof caved in and my blanket was on fire, the side of my bed was on fire and all the ports had come out and exploded. Everything was flaming up and stuff.

“It was pretty shocking.”

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued on Friday morning for South East Queensland following a night of intense rainfall which caused flash flooding on the Sunshine Coast.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued the warning for people in the Gold Coast, Coolangatta, Beenleigh, Jimboomba and Mount Tamborine.

“A surface trough is combining with an upper trough to cause thunderstorms and heavy showers in the southeast this morning,” the warning said.

Brisbane could be soaked, with up to 90mm of rain forecast today, the bureau warned.

The dampener comes as the state prepared to commemorate the efforts of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for Anzac Day.

Brisbane has a 90 per cent chance of rain today with falls of up to 90mm possible and the chance of a thunderstorm.

Senior meteorologist Dean Narramore said Brisbane was also expected to be hit by storms in the morning, followed by showers which could deliver “heavy falls” as well.

“We had a lot of rain and thunderstorm activity overnight. It’s still ongoing this morning,” Mr Narramore said.

“Rainfall overnight has led to a few flash and riverine flooding on some of our rivers, creeks and streams.

“There is likely to see rainfall continuing the next coming hours, but it should slowly ease and contract south as we move through the day.”

The bureau also issued a minor flood warning for Upper Brisbane, Mary, Noosa and Maroochy Rivers as they were responding to the locally heavy rainfall.

The Sunshine Coast copped the worst of the weather with a monster rain bomb dumping 234mm at Woombye, 200mm at Nambour and 176mm at Poona Dam.

Higgins Storm Chasing said the South East had been “absolutely flogged”.

“This heavy rain is still feeding in from offshore so be careful driving this morning there will be flash flooding around,” Higgins warned.

According to the Department of Transport and Main Roads, there is flash flooding on the Sunshine Coast, including at Neill Rd, Mooloolah Valley, Crosby Hill Rd, Tanawha, Currie St and Bli Bli Rd, Nambour.

Emergency services were called to Hospital Road at Nambour around 3am following reports a car was caught in flash flooding.

A man was taken to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition.
