Australian media personality Abbie Chatfield has unleashed her “hatred” for Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate as she prepares to bring her next project to the city.

Chatfield announced she was bringing her Trauma Dump Tour Goes Regional back to the Gold Coast after the success of her sellout metro tour last year.

She said the show – which revolves around three of Chatfield’s worst dating stories – was her “best work”.

“I riff off a power point and play with the room. People heckle things, which I love,” she said.

“It’s like we’re hanging out having dinner. It’s f**king hilarious.”

Chatfield, who grew up on the Gold Coast, said she made sure one of the traumatic dating stories was from her hometown.

“I’m excited to not have to explain the context of Palm Beach and to have people understand what I mean,” she said.

“People can expect chaos.”

Chatfield said, while she loved coming back to the Gold Coast and going to her favourite spots like Burleigh Heads, she hated that Mayor Tate was changing parts of the city into a cold “shopping centre”.

“I have always hated Tom Tate since he became Mayor,” she said.

“The construction from Tugun to Varsity Lakes is sick and twisted.

“The amount of development is crazy.”

Meanwhile, Mayor Tate is facing potential disciplinary action after the Office of Independent Assessor (OIA) upheld a complaint after he called his colleague Cr Joe Wilkinson a “ranga”.

Chatfield said she hadn’t heard about the complaint but that she was “glad he’s facing some sort of disciplinary action”.

“That makes me happy,” she said.

Politics aside, Chatfield said she had a lot of love for the city that she spent her formative years in.

“The Gold Coast, the meter maids and Pink Flamingo … it’s such a fun and camp place,” she said.

Chatfield said she hoped to one day move back to the Gold Coast and potentially raise a family with her boyfriend and one half of the Peking Duk duo, Adam Hyde.

“The Gold Coast is more my home to me than Brisbane,” she said.

“It feels happy.

“Going to Burleigh Heads is one of the most joyous things in the world.

“Having some fish and chips, getting a juice from the fruit shop, going for a shop on James St and going for a swim at Tallebudgera Creek is the most perfect day,” she said.

Chatfield said the Gold Coast was more than just Surfers Paradise.

“I really don’t like the reputation the Gold Coast has around Australia that it is just Surfers Paradise. I wasn’t even aware of it until I left Queensland,” she said.

“I’ve been to Surfers Paradise once voluntarily in my life. No one from the Gold Coast goes there.”

Chatfield said she was excited have an “excuse” to do the tour again and take it to regional towns across Australia.

Mr Tate responded on Saturday saying: “Abbie who? Is that a road in England - if it is it’s probably a one way.

“Everyone is welcome to do their thing on the Gold Coast and if they want to be self-promoting because they dislike the mayor or hate him, it’s unfathomable that you hate someone without ever meeting them.

“If the population of the Gold Coast keep voting me in with 102,000-vote majority, one hater out of the town, I can live with that.”

Chatfield’s 13-date tour will stop at Hobart, Canberra, Thirroul, Caloundra, Gold Coast, Warragul, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Newcastle, Port Macquarie, Cairns and Darwin.

Chatfield will arrive at The Star Gold Coast on October 24.
