When Toowoomba brothers Bryce and Richard Capp first founded their business Milton and King Wallpaper and Fabric Co, little did they know what lay ahead.

Now after more than a decade later, their business has claimed the title of Australia’s largest wallpaper manufacturer, as well as a growing market on an international scale.

Business development manager Jo Capp said 90% of designs manufactured in the Toowoomba factory were exported to America.

“Our American market has grown so substantially that we are opening another factory in Austin, Texas,” Ms Capp said.

“In the last financial year we pumped out more than $4 million worth of stock.”

And now the brothers are looking to grow their Toowoomba consumer base too.

“It really is one of those amazing local success stories that has been kept a secret,” Ms Capp said.

“We’re now opening our Toowoomba factory up for everyone to see it and we’re inviting the general public to come and see our designs but it’s by appointment only.”

Describing the wallpaper as ‘groundbreaking’ works of art, Ms Capp said the designs were brightening up the lives of others.

“I think we’re spending much more time in our homes than ever before with Covid-19,” she said.

“But why can’t we create our own imaginative spaces with a different style or theme in each room?”

Seven people are currently employed at the Toowoomba factory with two staff members relocating to America.

The business has almost 100,000 followers on Instagram.

Milton and King Wallpaper and Fabric Co at 306 Ruthven St, is open weekdays from 9am to 5pm.

To book an appointment phone 3162 5030.
