A teenager was left fighting for life after a frightening incident at a school camp in Anglesea.
It’s understood the student suffered a life-threatening medical episode at the Araluen Lutheran Camp on McDougall Rd at about 11.15am on Wednesday, with paramedics and police arriving soon after.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the teen was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.
The circumstances surrounding the scare remain unclear, however no police involvement was required.
Chief operating officer of Lutheran Church of Australia’s Victorian District, Stephen Mildred, confirmed “a camper was involved in a medical incident” while the faciltiy was being used by a school.
The grounds, popular with primary and secondary schools, church and sporting groups, is located a short walk from the Anglesea main street with a bedding capacity of 170.
“The student was treated at the scene by the camp’s nursing staff and teachers and
subsequently flown by Medivac helicopter to Royal Melbourne Hospital,” Mr Mildred said.
“The prayers of the Lutheran community are with the student and their family.”
