Child pepper sprayed and arrested after allegedly setting pillow on fire, damaging cars
A child has been pepper-sprayed and arrested after allegedly setting a pillow alight in a Hamlyn Heights home before damaging two vehicles, with fire crews also attending a blaze in Norlane earlier in the morning.

A child has been maced and arrested in Geelong’s west after allegedy setting a pillow on fire in a residential property and damaging two vehicles.
Emergency services were called to a house in Hamlyn Heights about 11.30am on Saturday following reports of a fire inside the property.
It comes after crews extinguished a second house fire in Norlane earlier in the morning.
Police allege the 16-year-old boy deliberately lit a pillow on fire, before damaging two vehicles.
A silver sedan parked in the driveway could be seen with a smashed front windshield and a damaged right mirror.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers attended and deployed pepper spray to safely arrest the child.
“No one was injured and the fire caused smoke damage to the property,” she said.
“It is expected they will be interviewed this afternoon.”
Earlier on Saturday morning, firefighters responded to a blaze at a house in Norlane.
Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) received calls just after 6.45am that flames were issuing from the roof of a property on Bellmore Dr in Norlane.
Firefighters were on scene within seven minutes, finding a vacant brick house with the roof fully involved with flames.
An FRV spokeswoman said “crews donned breathing apparatus to enter the building and knocked down the fire”.
“The scene was deemed Under Control at 7.02am,” she said.
“Victoria Police were also on the scene to assist with traffic control and the power company was asked to attend.”
