Buses to replace V/Line trains for two weeks on Geelong Line

Geelong’s commuters are set for more train pain, with bus replacements set for a fortnight.
Works on the Geelong and Warrnambool lines started on Monday, with customers encouraged to allow extra time for their journey.
V/Line track maintenance and upgrade works in several locations means coaches will replace trains between Waurn Ponds and Wyndham Vale from Monday, March 31 to Sunday, April 13 on the Geelong line.
Trains will continue to run between Wyndham Vale and Southern Cross.
Buses will also replace trains on the entire Warrnambool line over the same period.
Coaches will also replace some evening Geelong line services from Sunday, 13 April to Tuesday, 15 April.
V/Line is urging customers to add 40-minutes extra for the coach journey, and to plan ahead using the their website.
The works will see crews perform track maintenance in the tunnel between Geelong and South Geelong station and landscaping and signal works between South Geelong and Waurn Ponds.
Level crossing upgrades will take place at Lara and Little River, while farther west the Warrnambool stabling facility will be upgraded, and annual track maintenance and vegetation removal will take place between Colac and Warrnambool.
The initial Warrnambool stabling works will enable all Warrnambool Line services to run as modern VLocity trains following a timetable change that will also introduce a fifth weekend return service from the week commencing Monday, April 14.
