THE largest toy store in Toowoomba, and only the second of its kind in Queensland, has opened amid shrieks of excitement and wonder at Grand Central.
Toymate is a 1600 sq m toy shop wonder carrying about 5000 different lines for children of all ages.
For mum Andrea Hohn, whose daughters Pheobe and Ava easily found gifts for their friends' upcoming birthday parties, the store was a welcome surprise on Saturday morning.
"It's very impressive,” she said.
"It's a great set-up and there's a large range of age-appropriate toys.”
Toymate is an Australian-owned store brand which first opened in 2005 before recently expanding into Queensland.
The Toowoomba store is the second of its kind in the state, behind Robina and ahead of another opening in Logan later this year.
Toymate Toowoomba store manager Conor Hilton said the grand opening weekend was packed with activities for children.
The store's layout is a new concept which Mr Hilton said separated it from other toy shops.
"The first thing is the pricing, but also the displays and the overall feel of the store,” he said on what set Toymate apart from other shops, adding the LED sections enabled shoppers to easily find items of interest.
And in light of the recent movie release, the latest must-have toy is the Furreal Simba from the Lion King.
