Daly Waters Pub is one of four Territory businesses introducing evening activities to boost tourism in the NT.

Pub owner Tim Carter said the business is introducing an outdoor cinema to “tell the story around Daly Waters”.

“It will get them to stay and enjoy and make that their base for a couple of days,” he said.

“It’s just another arrow in the bow.”

The big screen will broadcast rugby and AFL games for the footy fans and general knowledge films of Daly Waters’ history for tourists.

The informative footage will “put a thought in their head of what they’re going to be doing the next day, the next week, or when they return,” Mr Carter said.

Mr Carter’s family recently purchased the Adelaide River Inn and hopes to make similar upgrades to the site.

“Adelaide River has got a hell of a lot of history and we want to bring that to the people,” he said.

Katherine Outback Experience will run outdoor dining in the evenings and Red Centre Adventures NT will be hosting cycling tours to Simpsons Gap.

Co-owner Kerry Heness said the new tours will encourage visitors to get out and enjoy the Red Centre at all times of the day but especially the “magic” of Simpsons Gap in the evening.

Each operator has received $7,000 from the Tourism Evening Experience grant program to install the new attractions by the end of April 2023.

“These new evening experiences enhance our tourism offerings in the NT, which in turn helps to generate positive reviews and attract more visitors to explore our regions,” Tourism Minister Nicole Manison said.

“It’s important all our regions have unique tourism opportunities, to create well-paying jobs for locals and allow tourists to explore parts of the Territory they may not have considered before.”
