A TOOWOOMBA car wrecking yard has hit the freehold market for the first time in more than 15 years, sporting a price tag of $3.5 million.

Ray White Toowoomba Range and Highfields is handling the sale of site at 377 Taylor St in Wilsonton, which houses Toowoomba Car Wreckers.

Lead agent Tony Franke said the current owner wanted to divest from the land to ensure a smooth transition out of the business in the future.

"They've just been in the business for a long time. The business is separate there, so they're just selling the freehold land," he said.

"It's pretty well-positioned to take advantage of Witmack Park or Wellcamp. There's a lot of space at the site.

"The main shed is approximately 756sq m in size plus a covered awning area of 180sq m, and the upstairs mezzanine floor area is approximately 500sq m.

"Properties of this calibre in a location like this are very hard to come by and would suit a wide variety of businesses."

The property was last sold by JM Kelly Group in 2002 for $651,000, according to RP Data.
