We’re taking a look back at all of our school formals from the last 10 years.

This week, we’re heading back to 2017 – the year the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip celebrated 70 years of marriage.

Musician Ed Sheeran hit the Billboard charts with his song Shape of You, along with Bruno Mars for That’s What I Like and Justin Beiber for Despacito.

While singer-songwriter Adele won every award she was nominated for at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Pop Vocal Album.

Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, grossed more than $1.3 billion at the box office, making it the most financially successful film of the year.

While there were plenty of highs, it was also a year full of tragedies.

In May, a suicide bomber blew himself up at an Ariana Grande concert, killing 22 people including an eight-year-old girl.

We lost many loved celebrities with the passing of AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young, Rock n’ Roll king Chuck Berry, American actor Mary Tyler Moore, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner and legendary rock star Tom Petty.

The celebrity world was full of scandal and resulted in the arrest of con artist Billy McFarland who launched a fraudulent luxury music event called the Fyre Festival.

Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway also presented the Oscar for Best Picture to La La Land, before the film producer took the microphone to reveal the award was actually for Moonlight.

Dozens of women came forward to accuse disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault and abuse over the course of at least 30 years.

It sparked outrage among many and ignited the #MeToo social media campaign, which encouraged victims to share their own stories of abuse online.

In politics, Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th president in the United States and would soon go on to become one of the most controversial leaders in the western world.

Australia made history in December when the country voted in favour of marriage equality via a postal survey, allowing same sex couples to wed.

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson also made headlines when she wore a burqa in the senate in August.

Academic Robert Kelly went viral when footage showed his two young children barge into his office while he was in a live broadcast with the BBC.

And this Melbourne woman found a spider in her prepacked supermarket salad.
