MORE than 200 homes in the Lockyer Valley council area are without power due to a fallen powerline near Helidon.

Energex crews are working to repair the line which fell across the highway, causing it to be closed earlier this afternoon.

Toowoomba, Gatton and Helidon police were directing traffic, but it is understood the lane has since been reopened.

The 221 homes in the Lockyer Valley are listed as being at Postmans Ridge, Gatton, Helidon Spa and Helidon.

An Energex spokesman said the fallen line was a result of the storm activity which passed over the region this afternoon.

The spokesman urged residents to report any fallen lines to the compnay.

A further 100 homes in the Ipswich council area are also without power due to storm activity.

Mount Forbes, Rosewood, Mutdapilly and Ebenezer outages are currently under investigation.

Energex said a total 1800 properties are without power in the south-east region due to storm activity.

Energex is yet to determine when power will be restored.
