An acclaimed builder’s plan to create a new wedding and function venue outside Toowoomba has been given the green light by the council.
Stuart and Emily Valdal’s Valdal Property Group was last week approved for a number of significant changes to its proposal on Horrex Road at Ravensbourne, which was dubbed “The Dairy”.
The changes come after the original design, which included a new function centre, a chapel and sweeping views of the Darling Downs, was approved in late 2020 following a challenge by landholders in the planning and environment court.
According to the assessment report by council planning officer Jayden Forbes-Mitchell, the alterations included relocating and downsizing the chapel, changing the access road from Horrex Road to Philp Road, increasing the size of the function centre and staging the development to build six short-stay villas in a second stage.
“The change application has been accepted and assessed as an ‘other change’ as the sum of the proposed changes represents ‘substantially different development’ from that currently approved,” the report said.
Mr Forbes-Mitchell recommended approval, with changes to certain conditions.
The Valdals are known for constructing a number of award-winning properties in Toowoomba and Brisbane.
