A developer’s plans for for a set of “townhouse-style” units in the Toowoomba suburb of Newtown have been green lit.
The Toowoomba Regional Council gave applicant Malyshka Pottinger Pty Ltd the green light to move ahead with six three-bedroom units on Pottinger Street in Newtown last week.
The site, which features an existing dwelling that will be rem0ved, is directly opposite the beautiful Newtown Park.
According to the report by Wiley Planning, the design of the units would complement the surrounding streetscape and the land’s current zoning.
“The buildings will be of contemporary design and satisfy council’s desired intent for the area,” the report said.
“The current area designation is low-medium density residential with the site located in the urban residential precinct.
“In this zone and precinct, the scheme proposes a range and mix of residential dwelling choices, having a height not exceeding three storeys.”
Because the application was code-assessable, the developer did not need to complete community consultation.
Council planning officer Tamara Katai approved the development, subject to more than 90 conditions for the applicant to follow.
