A boutique city butchery has revealed the name of its new restaurant as part of plans to expand its existing site in North Toowoomba.

The Paddock lodged plans last week with the Toowoomba Regional Council’s planning department to add an extra 113 sqm of floor space to its new eatery The Plate, its third tenancy inside the old Delacey’s Hotel on Ruthven Street.

According to the report by Precinct Urban Planning, the new restaurant currently under construction will need the extension to cater for a boutique brewery, dosa (smoking area), coldroom and keg room.

“The proposed coldroom, keg-room and brewery will assist with the operations of the The Plate, and the dosa will not be used as an additional dining area,” the report said.

“Accordingly, the proposal will not involve an increase in patronage to the site or the number of patrons on site at any one time.”

It comes just two months after owner Ted Ellison opened his new drive-through coffee shop The Shed, located at the rear of the property.

Mr Ellison had flagged the venue was in the works at the start of the year, saying it was to meet strong demand for their products.
