A POPULAR butcher has made its new home in Toowoomba after decades of using Darling Downs produce.
Andrew's Meats closed its Lowood store and sold its Mt Ommaney and Logan stores before opening in Grand Central's Market Room yesterday.
The 30-year-old business has been buying its fresh meat from the Darling Downs throughout the time.
Co-owners Andrew Wishart and Brett Owen were excited to share their goods, including their own handmade small goods, with Toowoomba.
They have been in partnership for 20 years with Mr Owen originally starting with the business as a clean-up boy before completing his apprenticeship, working as a butcher and manager, before becoming co-owner.
"It is a bit closer to where we buy our product from and a great opportunity to be part of Grand Central," Mr Wishart said.
As well as fresh meat, the store has its own kitchen selling things like burgers, fries and salad. You can even select your own piece of meat to be cooked.
"It's fantastic. People have obviously been waiting for us because the response yesterday (Monday) was really good," Mr Wishart said.
The store is now busily preparing for the Christmas ham demand, with a countless amount being cooked each day in-store.
