Critical care paramedics treating motorbike rider after serious crash

A motorcyclist remains clinging to life after a serious crash east of Toowoomba, with police appealing for information to determine how the horror incident unfolded.

A motorcyclist is clinging to life in a Brisbane hospital after being involved in a horror crash east of Toowoomba, with police appealing for witnesses and video evidence to piece together what happened.

The single-vehicle crash happened on the Warrego Highway westbound at Gatton when the blue Yamaha R3 sports bike struck a guardrail about 3.50pm.

A man in his 20s was airlifted to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

A Queensland Health spokeswoman said the man was critical but stable in the hospital’s intensive care unit after suffering extensive injuries to his head, chest, abdomen and leg.

The highway was closed until about 6.30pm.

Any witnesses or those with dashcam footage from the area at the time have been asked to contact Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.

A separate incident happened on the same highway minutes later.

The single-vehicle crash happened on the Warrego Highway eastbound at Plainland about 4pm.

Four people, including a woman in her 50s and two children, required transport to Ipswich Hospital, but they’re all in stable conditions.

The woman in her 50s was unwell after the crash, while one child had leg pain and another had hand pain.

A woman in her 30s was also transported to the hospital as a precaution.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said that it was not believed there were any significant injuries.

Another two children were involved in the incident although they didn’t require transport.
