THE driver killed in a car crash at Gowrie Mountain on Tuesday was a Singaporean national working at the country's air force base at Oakey.
An Australian Defence Force spokesperson confirmed the man, 47, was a member of the Singapore Air Force, which has a base stationed at the Australian Army Aviation Centre.
"As the accident is currently the subject of a Queensland Police Service investigation, it would be inappropriate for Defence to comment further at this time," the spokesperson said.
The cause of the crash is unclear at this stage.
Four people died on roads in the Toowoomba region this month.
The latest fatal crash came just one day after the RACQ released statistics which showed that one-in-five of Queenland's road deaths occurred on either the Warrego or Bruce Hwy.
Queensland Fire and Rescue Service inspector Graham Cooke, who attended the crash, urged drivers to take care.
"We implore drivers to steady down and really concentrate on what they're doing when they're driving," he said.
