The group charged with shaping the long-awaited Quarry Gardens project in Toowoomba will host its first meeting this week.
The Bridge St Quarry development advisory committee, chaired by Cr Kerry Shine, will meet on Thursday afternoon at the Toowoomba City Library to start discussions on the project.
Cr Shine will be joined by four other councillors, while the committee is also made up from key stakeholder and industry groups for tourism, economic development, sports, environmental conservation and small business.
Local residents will also be represented by a homeowner on the committee.
The committee will hear the presentation of the redevelopment feasibility study by consultant KPMG Australia.
Infrastructure general manager Mike Brady will also provide an update on the rehabilitation works currently under way at the site to ensure it meets safety standards.
The December meeting will feature a site tour for advisory committee members.
The Quarry Gardens project has been included in the council’s pandemic response stimulus capital works program, which was announced with the budget earlier this year.
